This is a big and bold watch if I have ever seen one. Part of me likes the watch, part of me is a bit freaked out by it. The 58mm wide monster from Nautica is certainly inspired by brands like Ikepod and N.O.A. Nautica's result is the brand new Nautica NMX 400 you see before you (which looks nothing at all like the NMX 300). As part of the Timex Group, Nautica has been releasing some quite nice (and reasonably priced) watches as of late. Plus, they can enjoy wide distribution, so this watch won't just be a nice picture , you can actually get one in at a retail location. Still NMX 400 is the oddest of the 2009 watches from Nautica, though it might prove to be surprisingly useful in the right hands.

Think of the watch has having two parts. First is the large "Zone 1" face with the larger dial, 12 hour chronograph, and date. Then are the four other "zones" which are literally their own watch faces that you can independent set. Don't ask how many batteries this Japanese quartz movement based watch takes,replica cartier, because I don't know - though I do know that the watch features five separate movements.





The four smaller dials are recessed like bowls, and the dial itself looks almost perforated. The pattern does a good job at helping to relax the empty space between the functional areas - a problem with watches designed like this (Glycine has battled with this issue too). What Nautica also did well was the design of the case itself. First, it smartly allowed the uber-sized case to actually fit on your wrist by having the leather straps attach underneath - a choice that also gives the watch a sleeker look. Even though there is so much going on with the watch,audemars piguet, there is a simplistic minimalist look to each area. Yes, that is a contradiction in terms, but I think you know what I mean. The black and either yellow or green dialed version of the NMX 400 watch would probably be my pick, but the watch also comes in a rose gold toned version with matching gold-toned hands. I just measured 58mm wide on my wrist trying to imagine wearing this watch - it is pretty wild. You need to be a Danish yacht skipper or something along those lines to properly pull this look off. Though I think I might try anyway. The Nautica NMX 400 watches will be released at Baselworld later this month. I imagine prices will be between $450 - $750.

Review of the Seiko SBCM023 cartier

Let's start with the impressive and somewhat unusual specifications:

I do wish that the crystal were sapphire instead of Hardlex, and an anti-reflective coating would also be a nice touch. The crystal is recessed below the angled bezel, so it has some protection against damage, but care is still warranted.

The really interesting thing about this watch is the movement. Normal quartz runs a 32kHz, and is accurate within 15 seconds per month, or 180 seconds per year. The 8F35 in this watch runs at a faster 192kHz, and is nine times as accurate at 20 seconds per year,cartier, or less than two seconds per month! By way of comparison, the most accurate quartz you can buy is the Citizen Chronomaster, at 5 seconds per year. This Seiko is within shouting distance of that, and costs a tenth of the price. Seiko didn't stop there, though -- it's also a perpetual calendar, so the date is always correct, and the battery is rated to an extraordinary ten years. That's quite an achievement.

The bracelet is excellent: solid links, double pushbuttons with fliplock, fixed-length diver's extension, nicely and evenly brushed with polished sides and bevelled clasp. The links are held with the usual pin-and-collars, and the clasp has a generous four micro-adjustments. The end links are hollow, which I consider a minor negative. Drilled 20mm lugs make changing straps or bracelets easier. Case and bracelet are finished and surfaced to a noticeably higher level of quality than the SKX series; very enjoyable to wear.

Luminosity and timekeeping performance are both exemplary. The lume is quite visible after 8 hours, and after a month I show less than a second of error. A versatile and unfussy watch, it's perfect for accuracy fans who aren't within range for a radio-set watch.

List price on the Japan-only SBCM023 is 31,500 JPY, or $350 USD as of 11/09. Street price is under $250, making this a very good value.

Pictured here next to the 44mm SBDX001, the differences from the SKX series are more apparent. It's 5mm narrower, has a thinner bezel, and is quite a bit thinner to boot. The rest of the SKX series are 44mm, making the  SBCM023 a very unusual Seiko indeed. You can also see from this picture that the dial is actually a dark grey, not black, but the difference is quite subtle.

After wearing this for a while, you'll likely be wondering why you need to wear anything larger or heavier. Outstanding versatility, ultra-accurate movement, always-correct date, and a decade-long battery make this one heck of a killer watch. All of that functionality, and a style that is uniquely Seiko. Combined with the lower height and an excellent bracelet, you have one of Seiko's most versatile watches ever made. This watch can go from the dive boat to the blue suit with effortless ease as though it were a more accurate Submariner. It won't demonstrate your income like a Rolex might, but for the man (or woman, actually) wanting a single watch that does it all, the SBCM023 is a very good choice.

On my 7.25" wrist, the watch seems the perfect size due to the reduced bezel width. At 39mm, it's smaller than many of the currently fashionable watches, but it's really perfectly balanced: very legible day or night.

In the profile picture, you can see how the lines of the lugs curve down around the wrist while the back-to-side curve similarly ensures comfort.

But for $35,000 you can't go too wrong with this beautiful chronograph version of Audemars Piguet's lovely Millenary watch. The sorta asymmetric is not off-centered as it might appear. Two oblong circles overlap to create that interesting look that Audemars Piguet perfected. Though, the chronograph version does actually have some off-centered dials.

The standard Millenary watch uses the two circles for the minute or the hours. This version uses the outer circle cleverly as a tachymeter. It is not the most elegant application of a tachymeter scale, but it works. The dial has everything in the right place, though it does come across as though it is a reflection out of a funhouse mirror looking a bit misshapen.



The case is in 18kt rose gold and measures 47mm x 42mm,rolex, pretty nicely sized! Inside,bvlgari watches, the mechanical movement is the automatic AP caliber 2385 with a power reserve of 40 hours (not exactly a stellar power reserve,replica cartier, but it is a chronograph movement). Sky blue is found throughout the dial as well as gold used for the out markers and the hands. It is a pretty bold little number, and a charming edition to something from Audemars Piguet that is not a Royal Oak watch. Although I can't imagine that you are still able to overwind your watch, a running watch is still better than a watch that stands still. This probably has something to do with the synthetic oil that thickens a bit after a long period of non-wear.

If you are interested in getting a watch winder for your watch (or watches), make sure you decided whether you want to have it stored/tucked away somewhere out of sight or in a safe (battery operated?) or that you need something small and convenient like the Leather One Watch Winder (which is adaptor-only) or that you want to have a nice looking watch winder with wood or piano finish to show-off your watch or collection of watches.
